Estonia: Prison break

As sad it as may be to see old buildings fall apart: Prisons and sea fortresses are a different matter. The Patarei in Tallinn has served as both. The last execution took place in 1991, the last inmate left in 2004. Now a part of the buildings hosts a museum and most of the complex can be walked freely, as long as you think the ground beneath your feet is safe. It’s worth taking some time and going even to the remotest corner to get nice details like the one in this picture and a great view like in the next post.
